Aphids (which are also called plant lice or greenflies) are a very common and destructive garden pest. They suck the juices out of a plant, and multiply quickly forming large and expanding colonies.

Organic controls

  • Ladybugs are a great natural control, especially in organic gardens where there is no pesticide to harm them or their voracious larvae which eat the aphids as well. These can be bought at garden centers and online.
  • Hose the plants off with as strong a jet of water as you feel comfortable with, repeatedly, in order to clear your plant of the infestation.
