Pithecolobium latifolium, Benth. (Mimosa latifolia, Linn. Inga latifolia, Willd. Calliandra latifolia, Griseb.). A small tree or tall shrub, entirely glabrous: stipules persistent, lanceolate-acuminate: lvs. 1-pinnate; lfts. often 2-pinnate; ovate or ovate-oblong, acuminate, 3-6 in. long: fls. in loose nearly sessile or short-peduncled heads; calyx very small; corolla about 1/4 in- long: pod curved, often a foot long and an inch broad. Brazil to Panama and in the W. Indies. Mart. Fl. Bras. 15,2:119.
