Vicia pannonica, Crantz. Annual, shortly soft to shaggy pubescent: sts. 2 to several, prostrate to ascending or climbing, rarely unbranched, 4-20 in. long: lvs. short-petioled to nearly sessile, the lower with 4, the upper with often 8 pairs of lfts. and mostly short tendrils; lfts. very short-petioled, linear to oblong: infl. very short-stalked, 2-4 (rarely 1) -fld.: fls. 1/2 – 5/8 in. long, pedicel much shorter than the calyx; corolla about 3 times longer than the calyx, yellowish to purple: pod about 1 1/4 in. long, 3/8 in. broad, 2-8 (mostly 3-5) -seeded; seed 1/8 in. diam., velvety black. S. and S. E. Eu. R.F.G. 22:243.
