Mammillaria pondii, Greene. Upright branches 10-15 in. long, 1½-2 in. diam., making much smaller clumps than the two preceding: tubercles short, ovate, not crowded; axils setose: spines in 3 series, outer 15-25, short, white; inner 5-8, brown, longer; central row 3, brown, usually 2 of them strongly hooked, 1 in. or more in length, much exceeding the other spines: fr. oval or obovate, dull purplish red, ¾ . long. Calif.
