Athyrium. A generic name recognized as valid by many well-known fern students. As usually delimited, it includes species of Asplenium (which see) which have some of the son curved across the subtending veinlets. There are also differences in the stem structure. The species are mostly larger and more herbaceous than those of true Asplenium.
