Scutellaria indica, Linn. St. procumbent at base: branches ascending, 6 in. to 1 ft. high: lvs. small, petiolate, rotundate, crenate, base cordate, both surfaces minutely pubescent: raceme dense, subsimple, 3-4 in. long: fls. opposite, secund: calyx pubescent; corolla bluish, rather glabrous, the lower lip very broad. China and Japan. Var. japonica, Hort. (S. japonica, Morr. & Decne.), grows about 6 in. high: lvs. ovate, gray-green: fls. blue or lilac; corolla pubescent. Japan.CH
