Shrub, attaining 6 ft., with spreading branches, tomentose when young: lvs. orbicular-ovate to ovate, cordate or rounded at the base, usually obtuse, crenulate-dentate or almost entire, wrinkled above and nearly glabrous at length, tomentose beneath, 2-5 in. long: fls. white, tinged with pink, in cymes 2-3 in. broad, with usually 5 rays; corolla rather larger, funnelform-campanulate, tube longer than limbs: fr. ovoid-oblong, red, changing to black.
