Var. hartlandii, Hort., has large spikes of lilac fls. and the young foliage variegated.— A rose-colored variety is sold as Var. carnea, Hort., which is also known in a double-fld. form; a dwarf, compact, lilac-fld. variety sold under the name Var. compacta, is also known.
