Bushy shrub with numerous ste., to 12 ft.: lvs. oval to obovate, sometimes oval-oblong, 1½-2½ in. long, serrate to the base, white-tomentose beneath when young: racemes upright, woolly; petals obovate, long; top of ovary woolly: fr. bluish black, with the sepals upright and slightly spreading.—This is possibly a hybrid between the preceding and the following species; much cult, in Eu. }} {{Inc| Amelanchier rotundifolia, Dum.-Cours., not Roem.
