A shrub or small tree: lvs. lanceolate, or broadly lanceolate, obtusely and shortly acuminate, acute at the base, on both sides subglabrous, beneath glossy; young branchlets, petioles, and midrib appressed-puberulous : peduncles usually recurved or pendulous and thickened at the apex, warty and puberulous like the calyx, 1/5-2/5in. long: corolla-wings obovate, ascending, rounded or obtuse at the apex, narrowed at the base, tomentose-canescent, 1/5in. long and 1/10in. broad: fr. globose, 1-1 1/5 in. diam., with the component carpels forming 20-30 slightly raised rounded areoles; seeds small, pale brown, conoid, somewhat flattened.— Type collected in S.
