Marsh-loving herbs, suitable for greenhouse cult.: sts. simple and leafless or somewhat branched and few-lvd.: lvs. radical, long-petioled, entire or irregularly sinuate-dentate: cymes usually many-fld., sometimes laxly paniculate, sometimes corymbosely congested or capitate and involucrate: fls. yellow or white; calyx 5-parted or deeply 5-cleft, segms. lanceolate; corolla broadly campanulate or rather rotate; stamens 5: caps. 1-celled, subglobose, apex 4-valved.—About 10 species, S. Afr. and Austral. V. reniformis, R. Br. (Menyanthes exaltata, Sims. M. sarmentosa, Sims).
