A. umbellata minor, DC.)- Cespitosely clustered: lvs. ascending or spreading, lance-oblong, acuminate, 2 x 6-8 in., often reddish, glaucous, faintly striate, with pale blotches more or less in transverse bands, the large, marginal, confluent teeth brown: infl. 1½-2½ ft. high, commonly branched; fls. 1½-1¾ in- long, red, the paler more or less green segms. much shorter than the tube.
