Ariocarpus fissuratus, Schum. (Anhalonium Engelmannii, Lern.). Living Rock. The flat tubercle-covered top 2-5 in. across, tapering below into a thick root; tubercles imbricated and appressed, triangular in outline, ½-1 in. long and about as wide at base, the upper surface fissured in bands, the outer ones forming an elevated margin: fls central, about 1 in. long and broad, shading from whitish to rose. On limestone hills in the "Great Bend" region of the Rio Grande in Texas, and extending into Mex. I.H. 16, p. 73, and fig. Contr. Nat. Herb. 13, pl. 62.
