Tacca chantrieri, Andre. Plant stemless, on a fibrous, red-brown caudex: lvs. on petioles attaining a length of 28 in., which are dilated and imbricated at base, channeled and red-brown; blades oval, acute at apex, about 20 x 8-10 1/2 in., brilliant shining green, not symmetrical at base: infl. red-brown, brilliant purple, spathes brilliant purple; fls. about 20, almost 2 in. long. Malaya.— Resembling T. cristata but larger in its proportions and having more numerous long- stalked fls. CH
