Francoa is a genus of the Francoaceae family which consists of herbs endemic to Chile. Plants may grow up to one metre high and produce basal clumps of round, deeply lobed, dark green, fuzzy leaves with winged leafstalks. Compact racemes of small, cup-shaped flowers, which are pink with red markings, appear in summer and early fall.

Francoa (Fr. Franco, Valencia, sixteenth century, promotor of botany). Saxifragaceae. It include only the species Francoa sonchifoliawp. Chilean perennial herb, with lyrate leaves and terminal dense racemes of white or pink flowers borne in summer, suitable for outdoor planting in mild climates. Plants erect, scapose, the lvs. basal or nearly so. 2-3 ft. high, and in the N. could perhaps be wintered in a coldframe; glandular-pilose or tomentose; rhizome thick, many-headed: lvs. glandular-dentate; fls. 1 in. across, in racemes 6 in. long; floral parts in 4's rarely 5's; petals obovate, clawed; stamens 4; caps. coriaceous, elongated, 4-angled and 4-celled.
