Francoa is a genus of the Francoaceae family which consists of herbs endemic to Chile. Plants may grow up to one metre high and produce basal clumps of round, deeply lobed, dark green, fuzzy leaves with winged leafstalks. Compact racemes of small, cup-shaped flowers, which are pink with red markings, appear in summer and early fall.

Plants erect, scapose, the lvs. basal or nearly so. 2-3 ft. high, and in the N. could perhaps be wintered in a coldframe; glandular-pilose or tomentose; rhizome thick, many-headed: lvs. glandular-dentate; fls. 1 in. across, in racemes 6 in. long; floral parts in 4's rarely 5's; petals obovate, clawed; stamens 4; caps. coriaceous, elongated, 4-angled and 4-celled.
