Sorghastrum is a genus of grass in the Poaceae family.

Sorghastrum (named for its resemblance to sorghum, a name which has been applied to Holcus). Gramineae. Grasses having the infl. as in Holcus but the pedicellate spikelet wanting, the pedicel only present.—Species about 12, mostly American. CH
