Freesia laxa or False Freesia (syn. Anomatheca cruenta, Anomatheca laxa, Lapeirousia cruenta, Lapeirousia laxa) is an ornamental plant native to South Africa and Mozambique. Forms clumps of grass-like leaves. Flowers are usually pink to purple-red, or less frequently white or pale blue. Self sows.

'Joan Evans' variety is only 6 inches (15cm) tall, and has pale-centered pink flowers.
