Talk:Gardening Books

Jump to navigationJump to searchHello Trees, I looked up the RHS book and it sounded incredibly authoritative - and then, by chance, I found a used copy online for $10 and ordered it immediately. Should be so great to be able to refer to it, and use some of the information on the site. Are you familiar with the Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture? Any thoughts on that? It's also by Macmillan but it was discontinued a while back. Also thousands of pages. --Raffi 17:37, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- A used copy for $10?? Sounds highly suspicious, it would cost far more than that just in mailing costs alone, and it is a collector's item. A smaller condensed single-volume edition is currently on offer on amazon.co.uk for £411 (= about US$600). What you've seen offered won't be the real thing! - Trees 22:30, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree it seemed impossible, and the only logical explanation I could think of, is somebody put the wrong price on it, since I got it from a used seller on Amazon and the description was right, the number of volumes was right, and the ISBN was right. The seller is one of America's biggest thrift stores. If it's just not right, I can simply return it... but I'm crossing my fingers! I'll let you know. --Raffi 05:17, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
