Hypericum galioides, Lam. (H. axillare, Lam., not Michx.). Shrub with slender sts. to 3 ft.: lvs. sessile, ¼ - ¾in. long, linear, acute, dark green, crowded: fls. yellow, ¼ - ½ in. across, axillary, solitary or in small cymes, forming narrow leafy panicles; sepals linear or linear- spatulate; petals cuneate at the base: caps, conic, acute, furrowed, incompletely 3-celled. July-Sept. Del. to Fla., Mo. and Texas. G.F. 10:433. G.C. III. 24:301.—Forms usually a low round bush with handsome dark green foliage.
