Tulipa acuminata, Vahl. Fig. 3872. Height 12-18 in.: leaves 4, lowest lanceolate, all undulated at margins: peduncle shining: perianth very open, light yellow splotched with red lines; segments sometimes 4 1/2 in. long, less than 1/2 in. wide, with edges rolled in; stamens yellow; filaments flattened, glabrous; ovary prismatic; stigmas very large, yellow, not undulated. Turkey (?) "This, the well-known Turkish tulip, is a most distinct type, of which the native country is not clearly known. It has the bulb, leaf, and glabrous peduncle of T. Gesneriana, and the flower is similarly variable in color."—Baker. CH
