Pachycereus chrysomallus, Brit. & Rose (Pilocereus chrysomallus, Lem.). Tree-like, with erect branches, reaching a height of 30 ft.: ribs in cult, plants 13: areoles with long hairs; radial spines 11-13, the upper 1/2in. long, the lower twice as long; centrals 4, still longer; all the spines amber-yellow, becoming brown: cephalium terminal or sometimes unilateral, a foot long, woolly and setose. Mex.—The indications are that the plant in cult, under the above name is a true Cephalocereus and not the Pilocereus chrysomallus of Lemaire. CH
