Laeliocattleya sallieri. Garden hybrid between L. purpurata var. Williamsii and C. Loddigesii. Pseudobulbs 1-2-lvd., about 10 in. high: lvs. 8 in. long, 3 in. wide: fls. several on a stalk, which is shorter than the lvs., 5-6 in. across; sepals and petals mauve, with deeper lines; labellum tubular, colored like the segms., and expanding into a carmine blade, pale at the tip. ^CH The above text is from the Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture.
