Sempervivum hirtum, Linn. (S. Allionii, Nym. S. cornutum, Hort.). Developed barren rosettes 1 – 1 1/4 in. diam., the new ones not rolled up into balls and breaking away as in S. soboliferum: lvs. about 50 to a rosette, obovate-cuneate, not distinctly cuspidate, pale gray-green, surfaces finely glandular-pubescent, margins glandular-ciliate, outer lvs. faintly tinted red, 1/2 – 3/4 x 1/6 in.; cauline lvs. crowded, pubescent, the upper cordate-ovate: fl.-st. including infl. 6-9 in. high, densely pilose: fls. usually 6-merous, pale yellow, in a few- to many-fld. panicle which is 1 1/2 - 4 in. diam.; calyx-segms. lanceolate, hairy on their back; petals 1/2 – 3/4 in. long, lanceolate, tricuspidate, the middle tooth conspicuous, keel prominent, tinted greenish red and is densely glandular.
