Aerides mitratum, Reichb. f. St. short, with a few semiterete lvs. 6-15 in. long, deeply grooved on the upper surface: racemes from below the lvs. and shorter than them, ascending or nearly erect; fls. 3/4in. long; sepals and petals white, flushed with mauve at the apex; lip amethyst; spur miter-shaped, short. Burma. CH
