Tibouchina elegans, Cogn. (Pleroma elegans, Gardn.). Tender shrub, 3-6 ft. high: lvs. rigid, fragile, oblong or ovate-oblong, 3-nerved: fls. purple, 1 1/2 in. across; calyx more or less armed with rigid spreading bristles which are thickened at the base. Brazil. B.M. 4262. P.M. 15:27. F.S. 12:1212 (as Lasiandra elegans). H.F. 3:24. CH
