Ligustrum amurense, Carr. (L. Ibota var. amurense, Hort.). Shrub, to 15 ft., with upright branches: leaves oval or oblong, usually obtuse, somewhat glossy above, glabrous except the midrib beneath, 1-1 1/2 in. long: panicles erect, often rather many-fld., 1-2 1/2 in. long; flowers short-pedicelled; calyx glabrous or slightly pubescent near the base: fruits slightly bloomy, ovoid, 1/3 in. long. June, July. Japan, China. —Similar in habit to L. ovalifolium and almost half-evergreen. CH
