Physocarpus intermedius, Schneid. (Opulaster intermedius, Rydb. O. Ramaleyi, Nelson). Shrub, to 5 ft.: lvs. orbicular in outline, 3-lobed with rounded lobes, doubly crenate, usually sparingly hairy beneath or glabrous, 1-2 1/2 in. long: corymbs dense; pedicels and calyx finely pubescent:pods 3-5 inflated longer than the calyx-lobes. June. 111. and Mo. to Colo, and S. D.
