Polypteris hookeriana, Gray (Palafoxia Hookeriana, Torr. & Gray) . A stout annual 1-4 ft. high, sticky pubescent : lvs. lanceolate, mostly 3-nerved below: heads 1 in. or more across; rays 8-10, deeply 3-cleft, rose-red, about 1/2in. long and showy.
