Hemitelia (Greek, with half a roof; referring to sori). Cyatheaceae. Tree ferns of the tropics, with round or semiglobose sori and an inferior indusium, consisting of a scale which is often indistinct and deciduous. Some 20 species occur in both hemispheres. This genus is not very well distinguished from Cyathea and Alsophila, differing only in technical characters of the indusium.
