Viburnum theiferum, Rehd. Upright shrub, to 12 ft.: branchlets glabrous: lvs. ovate-oblong, acuminate, rounded at the base, remotely denticulate, dark green and glabrous above, glabrous beneath except silky hairs on the veins, 3-5 in. long; petiole about 1/2 in. long: fls. in cymes, 1 – 1 1/2 in. across; calyx purple; stamens shorter or as long as corolla: fr. red, ovoid, 1/3 in. long. May, June: fr. in Oct. Cent. and W. China. S.T.S. 2:121.—Strong-growing shrub with handsome large foliage and ornamental bright red frs. in autumn.
