Luculia gratissima, Sweet. In the wild a tree or spreading shrub 10-16 ft.: lvs. opposite, ovate-oblong, acuminate, acute at the base, 4-6 in. long: panicle decussately branched; fls. pink or rose, forming a gorgeous rounded mass; corolla-lobes 1 ½ in. across, imbricated in the bud; stamens inserted in the tube, slightly exserted.
