Mammillaria venusta, Brandeg. Globose or hemispherical, small, often cespitose: tubercles very thick and blunt, concave at the end, usually extremely glaucous: radial spines 9-15, stout, from pure white to white below and brownish above: central commonly 1, sometimes 2 or 3, the lower little longer and darker than the radials: fls. rose-color, 1}^ in. in expansion: fr. scarcely juicy, nearly 1 in. long, circumscissile near the base. S. Low. Calif.
