Aloe bainesii, Dyer. Large flat-topped tree, 30-60 ft. high, copiously branched: lvs. concave, recurved- spreading; elongated, green, 2-3 x 24-36 in., the pale margin with rather small teeth: infl. 1 ft. or more high; fls. 1¼-1½ in. long, yellowish red, with segms. shorter than the tube. Cape region. G.C. 1874, p. 568. B.M. 6848. Berger 136, 137.—Varies in a broader-lvd. form with minute marginal prickles, var. Barberee, Baker (A. Barberas, Dyer. A. Zeyheri, Hort.), G.C. 1874, p. 568.
