Anemone blanda, Schott & Kotschy. St. 4-6 in. high, from a cylindrical rootstock: Lvs. like A. apennina, but harder and smoother, and principal divisions sessile: fls. intense sky-blue, differing from above species in being larger, more finely rayed, styles black-pointed, and sepals smooth on the outside; opens in earliest spring or mild winter weather. From Taurus Mts. and Greece; rocky places. Intro. 1898. Gn. 14:200; 75 p. 152. G.L. 19:71. Gn. W. 22: Supp. Apr. 15 (var. atrocaerulea). G.C. III. 41:297. (var. Scythissica).
