Clerodendron squamatum, Vahl (C. Kaempferi, Sieb.). Shrub 6-10 ft., thinly pubescent: Lvs. large, opposite, round cordate, entire or denticulate, acuminate: infl. and fls. brilliant scarlet; fls. with small red calyx and reflexed, spreading, unequal corolla-lobes; corolla-tube 1 in. or less long, very slender: drupe blue-black or greenish blue, rather fleshy. China. B.R. 649. R.B. 22:253. Gn. 42:562. Gt. 5:352.—Very showy. Cult, in warm greenhouses, and in the open in S. Calif, and S. Fla. The fls. are in an erect branchy, panicle-like cluster. CH
