Forestiera acuminata, Poir. (Adelia acuminata, Michx.). Deciduous shrub, to 10 ft. high, sometimes spiny, glabrous: lvs. slender-petioled, ovate-oblong or ovate-lanceolate, remotely serrate, 1 ½ - 4 in. long: staminate fls. in dense clusters; pistillate fls. in short panicles: fr. narrow, oblong or cylindrical, deep purple, falcate, acute, ½ in. long.
