Gaylussacia dumosa, Torr. & Gray. Shrub, to 2 ft., with creeping Bt. and almost erect, somewhat hairy and glandular branches: lvs. obovate-oblong to oblanceolate, mucronate, shining above, leathery, 1—2 in. long: fls. white or pinkish; bracts foliaceous and persistent: fr. black, usually pubescent, rather insipid. May, June; fr. Aug., Sept. Newfoundland to Fla. and La. in moist sandy or swampy soil. B.M. 1106 (as Vaccinium).
