Harrisia(named for William Harris, Superintendent of Public Gardens and Plantations. Jamaica). Cactaceae. Upright tall cacti, little planted.

Stems rather slender, sometimes weak: branches fluted and having 8-11 rounded ribs: areoles bearing slender needle-like spines: fls. tubular, rather large, growing from near the tips of the branches, night- blooming: fr. naked, globose, yellow.—About 8 species known; these confined to the W. Indies.
