Iris atropurpurea, Baker (I. eggeri, Hort.). Lvs. 6 in. long: st. 6-8 in.: outer segms. oblong, 2 in. long, purplish black, without veins, with a yellow patch on the throat and a beard of yellow, black-tipped hairs; inner segms. larger, of the same color, with discernable veins; style-crests small. Easily distinguished by its rather small, uniformly colored fls. Gt. 40:1361; 42, p. 489; suppl. pl.
