Iris reichenbachii, Heuffel. (synonyms I. bosniaca, Beck. I. balkana, Janka. I. reichenbachiana, Baker). Rhizome stout; tufts crowded: leaves 3-4 inches long, 1/4 -3/4 inch wide, increasing in size after flowering-time: stems 6-10 inches long, 1-headed, bearing 1-2 reduced leaves: spathes 1-2-flowered, 1 ½ -2 inches long; valves ventricose, green, or slightly scarious: flowers reddish brown-purple with bluish white beard, or yellow with orange beard; outer segments obovate, cuneate, 2 inches long, 1 inch broad; inner Begins, oblong-elliptical, emargmate, suddenly constricted to a canaliculate clawCH.
