Mesembryanthemum elegans, Jacq. (M. deflexum, Haw.). Shrubby, 6-12 in. or more tall, branchy, whitish or red: lvs. crowded, ½ in. long and very narrow, very glaucous, scabrous: fls. numerous, mostly panicled, pale red (or whitish), the petals ½ in long.
