Nepenthes rajah, Hook. f. Fig. 2462. St. upright, stout: lvs. large, thick, coriaceous: mature pitchers 5-9 x 3-5 in., red-purple or green-purple; wings widening from below up ward, fringed; peristome widely expanded with undulate margin, deep crimson; lid large cordate. Tr. Linn. Soc. 22:421. G.C. 11.16:493. Gn. 22, p. 122. F. 1883:167. B.M. 8017.—A magnificent species from Kinabalu, Borneo, that is difficult under cult. Moore, of Glasnevin, has succeeded well by growing it in a "filmy-fern atmosphere."
