Oncidium excavatum, Lindl. (O. aurosum, Reichb. f. & Warscz.). Pseudobulbs oblong, compressed, 3-5 in. long: Lvs. 1½ ft- long, leathery, shining green: panicle 3-5 ft. long, with numerous fls. 1½ in. across, yellow, spotted with brown; sepals obovate, obtuse, free; petals oblong, retuse; labellum sessile, with several broken ridges near the base, pandurate, excavated on the under side; middle lobe rotund, emarginate. Autumn. Peru. B.M. 5293. I.H. 17:34.—Strong plants produce as many as 100 fls. on each panicle.
