Poa arachnifera, Torr. Texas Blue-grass. Culm 2-3 ft. high; panicle contracted, 3-8 in. long; spikelets 1/4 in- long; first glume 1-nerved, second 3-nerved; lemma copiously webby-hairy at base. A native of Texas, where it is a valuable forage grass.—It prop, by rhizomes and forms a dense sod. Recommended as a winter pasture-grass in the S. Easily distinguished from the other species by its contracted panicle and large spikelets. Dept. Agric., Div. Agrost., Bull.
