Rollinia rugulosa, Schlecht. A shrub or small tree: lvs. lanceolate, or broadly lanceolate, obtusely and shortly acuminate, acute at the base, on both sides subglabrous, beneath glossy; young branchlets, petioles, and midrib appressed-puberulous : peduncles usually recurved or pendulous and thickened at the apex, warty and puberulous like the calyx, 1/5-2/5in. long: corolla-wings obovate, ascending, rounded or obtuse at the apex, narrowed at the base, tomentose-canescent, 1/5in. long and 1/10in. broad: fr. globose, 1-1 1/5 in. diam., with the component carpels forming 20-30 slightly raised rounded areoles; seeds small, pale brown, conoid, somewhat flattened.— Type collected in S. Brazil by Sellow. Closely related to R. rugulosa and with very similar fr. but with longer and narrower lvs. (suggesting those of R. salicifolia), is R. Warmingii. R. E. Fries, the type of which was collected on Mt. Tijuca, near Rio de Janeiro, by Glaziou (No. 6079).
