Scarcely clustered, acaulescent: lvs. at first ascending, gradually narrowed, rather sharp-pointed, 4-6 x 12-30 in., pale, not mottled, with rather small, confluent, deltoid, reddish marginal prickles: infl. 3 ft. high, dichotomously few-branched; fls. 1¼-1½ in- long, yellow or orange, the segms. rather shorter than the slightly narrowed tube.
