Argemone grandiflora, Sweet. Fig. 372. Glabrous and glaucous, 1-3 ft. high, almost destitute of prickles, stout: Lvs. sinuate-pinnatifid, the lobes only weakly spinescent, white-veined: bracts scattered along the fl. branches: fls. 3-6 near together, 4 in. across: caps.-valves scarcely crested. S. W. Mex. B.R. 1264. L.B.C. 16:1546. B.M. 3073.—Very showy.
