Salix rubens, Schrank (S. alba x S. fragilis. S. Russelliana, Smith. S. viridis, Fries). Intermediate between the parents. Tree; branchlets less fragile at the base than S. fragilis: lvs. silky when young, glabrous at maturity, intermediate in size: stalk of caps. longer than in S. alba. Occurs frequently between the parents. Var. palustris, Schneid. (S. palustris, Hort.). Silky pubescence of lvs. persisting.
