Amomum granum-paradisii, Linn. (A. grandiflorum, Smith. A. Afzèlii, Roscoe). Plant 4-5 ft.: sts. red at base, rhizome slender: Lvs. lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, 4-8 in. long and 1¾ in. or less broad at middle, wedge- shaped at base and short-stalked on sheath: fls. 3-4 in the spike, the peduncles 2-6 in. long, white; corolla- lobes 2 in. long; lip 2 in. or less long, yellow at the throat: caps, ovoid, pubescent, 2-3 in. long, much grooved. Guinea. B.M. 4603.
