Attalea amygdalina, HBK. (A. nucifera, Karsten). Stemless: Leaves 15-18 feet long, crowded, pinnatisect; segments 90-100 on each side, ensiform, glabrous above, with hairs along the outer margins beneath, 2⅓-2⅔ feet long, about 1¼ inch wide; petiole with rusty scales beneath: spadix of male flowers about 18 inches long, with a flattened stalk, inclosed by a thick woody spathe. Brazil.
